This application is spyware. Spyware software generally does not provide any services to you; rather, it is primarily designed to watch you as you use your computer or surf the Internet, and report this information to hackers, advertising companies or other individuals who have placed the spyware on your computer.
Spyware is often bundled with free software. The company which produces the free software gets paid by advertising companies for each computer that becomes "infected" with the spyware. To protect their revenue, the free software companies will sometimes force you to run the advertising spyware to use their free software.

- Method of infection: SpyMon generates an executable file that must be run on the intended target before SpyMon can monitor that machine. This executable could be installed by someone with physical access to the target computer or by tricking an unsuspecting user into running the program.
- Privacy issues: SpyMon gernerates an executable that when run on the client machine will enable the SpyMon server to remotely spy on the host computer in various ways. SpyMon will record all keystrokes on the client machine. SpyMon also has the option of taking screenshots of the client machine at any time and transmitting them back to the SpyMon server host. SpyMon also allows the remote user to logoff and shutdown the client machine at will. These features could enable the capture of personally identifiable information.

- Security issues: SpyMon has numerous security issues as it can log all keystrokes which occur on the client machine as well as record screenshots. This feature could be used to log passwords and other secure information. SpyMon also allows the user to remotely logoff and shutdown the client machine.
