Research
- Method of infection: According to 180 Solutions, Zango can be only downloaded from www.zango.com or from a gateway partner of 180 solutions. It has been seen to be installed through Windows Media Player's DRM videos that are commonly distributed through P2P networks. And, CNET reports that Zango is installed by a particular AIM worm with a payload that delivers a rootkit to make it undetectable and a version of the Sdbot Trojan Horse to open a back door on the infected PC.
- Advertising: Zango creates popup advertisements. Its privacy policy states that it only creates 2-3 advertisements a day. Because it is produced by the makers of 180 Solutions and is similar to other offerings by 180 Solutions, it is listed here.
