SpyCatcher 2006/2007
Browser page protection
How do I protect my homepage from being changed?
This issue may occur if your computer has been infected with a virus or a "hijacker" that changed your Internet Explorer homepage. Homepage changes often benefit the authors of the viruses or hijackers by sending you to pages that generate advertising revenue for them, or (worse) prompting you to download other software that may harm your computer.
You can easily configure SpyCatcher program to protect your desired homepage. To protect your homepage through SpyCatcher program, click on Protector under Pages and select the select the second option “Protect my homepage from being changed:”, Next to Desired Homepage, enter your desired homepage. For example: http://www.hotmail.com, about:blank.
The Protector constantly checks your web browser's settings to make sure they haven't been changed. If it detects a change, it will display a notification on your screen asking you what you'd like to do. You can accept the change or tell Protector to replace it with your original settings.
