Tenebril Names Software Security Veteran Allan Thompson as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Sales and Business Development
Former executive at Trend Micro, IntruVert Networks and Senforce to lead global sales for anti-spyware software firm
SAN MATEO, Calif. – June 22, 2005 – Tenebril™ Inc., a technology leader in anti-spyware and privacy solutions, today named Allan Thompson to a new company position as senior vice president of Enterprise Sales and Business Development.
Thompson, a 16-year veteran of enterprise hardware and software security, joins Tenebril from Senforce Technologies where he served as CEO, guiding the company to a leadership position in the policy-enforced endpoint security software category. Previously, Thompson held executive roles with industry leaders Trend Micro and IntruVert Networks.
"Allan is one of the pre-eminent security executives in IT and is just the team player we need as Tenebril scales its business internationally to target the tremendous opportunity in the enterprise market for anti-spyware and privacy solutions," said Irfan Salim, CEO of Tenebril. "We look forward to tapping his expertise to drive strategic alliances with partners and customers, accelerating the growth of our business around the world."
Tenebril enables enterprises and consumers to address the biggest risks from spyware, including Trojans, keyloggers that track passwords and personal information, as well as custom-crafted spyware that launches targeted attacks against consumers and businesses for malicious purposes or financial gain.
Fueled by profiteers, the spyware problem is growing faster than any other Internet threat and current solutions fall short of defeating complex spyware dangers such as mutations. Research shows that more than 15 percent of all spyware is capable of mutation.
"Spyware has become a critically important enterprise security concern, and yet, because of the growing percentage of spyware that mutates, most vendors in our industry don't have a viable solution," said Thompson. "I'm excited about the innovative technology at Tenebril and the opportunity to work with an experienced executive team to help consumers and enterprises remain in control of their computing systems."
Prior to Senforce, Thompson was Vice President of Business Development for intrusion prevention leader IntruVert Networks, later acquired by Network Associates (now McAfee). Previously he served as senior vice president of Global Alliances and vice president of North America Marketing for Trend Micro, the pioneer and leader of server-based anti-virus software. He also has held enterprise sales and business development roles for VocalTec Communications and Software Publishing Corporation. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
